Deleting an account removes every book in it. It is the only action in Calamus that cannot be undone, and it is therefore gated more strongly than anything else: a password, and the word DELETE typed in full.
Export first
There is no restoration after the deletion runs. Take an export from Settings under Backups before starting, and keep it somewhere that is not Calamus. The backups page covers the formats and how to request one by email.
How it is confirmed
Settings, under Danger Zone: enter your password, type DELETE in the confirmation field, and select Schedule account deletion. Both are required. The password authenticates the request; the typed word confirms intent. Deletion is available in the browser, in the Mac and iPad applications, and in Calamus Ideas for iPhone.
The seven-day window
Deletion is scheduled seven days out, and a message containing a cancellation link is sent to the address on the account. Nothing is removed during that period and sign-in continues to work. A decision made late at night can be reversed the following morning.
What is removed
Every book, chapter, scene, pen name, Codex entry, snapshot, moodboard item, research note, idea and connected social account, removed by the database as one operation. No book needs deleting first. Uploaded images are removed from the object store in a separate step immediately afterward.
What is retained
The record of a purchase and of a refund, rate-limiting counters, the security log, and anything already published to a third-party platform. Support ticket attachments and any emailed export archive are stored in a different store and are removed on request. Each is explained, with its reason, in the data deletion notice.
Deleting less than everything
If the intention is to remove a single book or a connected account rather than the whole account, those routes are separate and recoverable. See Trash and Archive and the social queue.
