Last updated 9 September 2026. This Cookie Policy applies to calamusapp.com (the “Site”) and to write.calamusapp.com (the “Application”). It forms part of, and should be read together with, the Privacy Policy. In this policy, “cookie” includes equivalent client-side storage technologies, including browser local storage.
1. Consent
1.1. The Site sets no cookie other than those strictly necessary for its operation and the record of the consent choice described in clause 3. All other categories are optional, are not loaded before consent is given, and are grouped into the three categories set out in clause 2, each of which may be accepted or refused independently.
1.2. Optional categories are not loaded and subsequently suppressed; the corresponding resources are not requested at all until consent is given. Consent may be withdrawn at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page. Withdrawal takes effect immediately and does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before it.
2. Optional categories
- Analytics. Measurement of page views and referral sources in aggregate, not used to identify an individual. No analytics technology is presently deployed on the Site. The category is disclosed in anticipation of such deployment.
- Marketing. Measurement of the effectiveness of paid advertising. Consent to this category loads the Pinterest tag, which is the only third-party technology setting a cookie on the Site. Refusal prevents the tag from being loaded.
- Embedded video. Loading of a third-party video player within a page. Where consent is refused, the video is represented by a static image and no request is made to the video host until you activate it; activation loads the player for that video alone and does not alter your recorded consent.
The Site collects no personal data other than an email address voluntarily submitted through the waitlist form. That address is transmitted to Calamus and forwarded server-side to our own mailing list system; it is not transmitted from your browser to any third party. No name, referring page, or tracking parameter is collected with it.
3. Cookies set on calamusapp.com at all times

No other cookie is set by the Site on its own behalf, and the Site transmits no cookie header of any kind.
4. Cookies set only on consent to Marketing

4.1. The names and retention periods stated above are those published by Pinterest in its tag documentation. Which of them are set depends on the circumstances of the visit.
4.2. Two further cookies the Pinterest tag is capable of setting,_derived_epik and _pin_aem, are associated with enhanced match, a feature that transmits the user’s email address to Pinterest. That parameter has been removed from our implementation of the tag and those cookies are not set.
4.3. Pinterest is established in the United States and receives this data there. The transfer is addressed in the Privacy Policy.
5. Cookies set by the Application
The following are strictly necessary to authenticate a session and are not subject to consent. None is used for advertising and none is disclosed to a third party.

5.1. Recognition of a device expires with the calamus_device cookie and not before. A device that is lost or stolen therefore remains recognized for the remainder of the 30-day period unless revoked. Revocation is available in Settings under Security, takes effect immediately, and may be performed from any device.
5.2. These three may be refused by blocking storage in your browser. The consequence is that a session cannot be maintained and the Application cannot be used. They are accordingly not offered as an optional category.
6. Technologies not used
The Application operates no advertising cookie, no cross-site tracking technology, and no third-party analytics. Content you create is not processed by any technology described in this policy. On the Site, the Pinterest tag identified in clause 4 is the only third-party technology. We do not sell personal information, and no content you create is disclosed to an advertiser.
7. Withdrawing consent and clearing cookies
Consent may be varied or withdrawn at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page. Cookies may additionally be cleared or blocked in your browser settings. Blocking cookies on the Site has no consequence for its use. Blocking cookies on the Application prevents a session from being maintained, with the consequence stated in clause 5.2.
