The Binder is the document tree for an entire book, including the parts that are not chapters. It is the same tree the Outliner and the Corkboard read, so reordering in one view is reordering in all three and requires no synchronization step.
Reordering
Drag a scene to another chapter, or a chapter to another position in the book. Structure and prose are stored separately, so a move changes the position of a document without altering its contents. No cutting and pasting between documents is involved.
Draft stages
Each scene and chapter has a stage: Outline, Draft, Revision, Final Copy, or a set you define. The palette is configurable, so the stages correspond to your process rather than to a fixed vocabulary. The stage is shown on the row, which makes the state of a whole book readable from the tree.
Front and end matter
Half-title, title page, copyright page, dedication, epigraph, foreword, introduction, epilogue and afterword appear in the same tree as the chapters, in the order in which they will print. Compile reads that order, so the sequence set here is the sequence produced in the EPUB and the PDF.
Word counts and targets
A target may be set on a scene or a chapter. The row displays the current count against that target, and the book-level figures are shown above the tree, so progress is visible without opening a document or a separate counter.
Deleted items
Deleting a chapter or scene moves it to Trash, from which it is recoverable for 30 days, and then to Archive for a further 30. The full schedule and the routes for permanent deletion are set out in the data deletion notice.
